FAQS - PRIMARY 

Is there a reception service? What time does it start? Until what time in the afternoon?

Yes. We have reception service both in the morning and in the afternoon. The morning schedule is from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and in the afternoon from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

What day does the school year start?

Before the end of the school year, the Department makes official which day the new school year will begin. The school will send it to you through an Information Circular in June.

How is the family-school relationship?

The relationship with the teaching staff is constant and close at all stages, either face-to-face or online through the educational platform. In addition, in Kindergarten, there is a very close relationship since both at midday and afternoon collection you go to the class to collect them and there you will find your tutor and you can have daily personal contact. At all stages we carry out many activities open to parents during school hours during the year. We hold two group meetings per year and from next year a minimum of two individual interviews with families.

And if our family is not religious/believer? 

Our school is governed by universal Christian values but is open to everyone regardless of their beliefs, family patterns or socio-economic circumstances. We ensure that all our students feel included and integrated in school activities. We believe that diversity enriches us and is a great opportunity to work on values such as empathy, tolerance and respect.

Do you have a summer camp? Can I bring the child if he hasn't started P3 yet?

The Summer Camp offers the centre's English academy in the last week of June and the whole month of July, with the instructors interacting with the boys in English. El Casal is offered to students from P3 to 1st year of ESO and although boys from other schools can attend, preference is given to students enrolled at Sagrada Família.

What is your vehicular language? How many hours do you study English?

The vehicular language of the center is Catalan. We do 2 hours of English per week for children and 3 hours per week for primary and high school. For a few years now we have had a multilingual project (which you can see in the (Educational Project) tab) in which they also carry out science classes in English and other activities to reach 17% of the schedule in English.

How do you treat cases of dyslexia? How do you welcome and deal with the cases of children with high abilities?

We have a guidance department made up of a pedagogue and a psychologist who advise teachers in these cases and other cases that require individualized attention. From the school we are working to personalize the curriculum and the assessment as much as possible for all students, especially those students who have a special educational need.

 

How many hours do you study French?

1 hour per week in 5th and 6th grade and from 1st to 3rd grade, 2 hours per week in 4th grade.

 

Do you have your own kitchen? Do you make menus adapted to diseases? Celiacs, intolerances...

Yes, we have our own kitchen with products bought and cooked at the school. We do not do catering and our kitchen, renovated in 2019, has two distinct spaces to adapt the menus to each special diet.

Are there many additional outings? What price are they?

We go out once a quarter as a group. Trips vary in price according to the year, children's trips are usually more expensive, around €20 each, primary school trips around €15 and ESO trips around €12._cc781905-5cde-3194 -bb3b-136bad5cf58d_

Do you do camps?

Yes, we do camps with all courses except P3. In P4 and P5 we go out two days with an overnight stay, from 1st primary to 2nd ESO three days, two nights. In the 3rd year of ESO we do exchanges with schools in Sweden and Holland and in the 4th year of ESO we do the end of studies trip.

 

Do you reuse books? Do they bring books?

In recent years we have greatly reduced the amount of textbooks for students. In fact, at Kindergarten, more than books, we use the material from the Tekman publishing house necessary for the Emat and Ludilletres projects and little else. In primary school, mathematics and language books are not reusable because they are fungible, other books are reusable. In ESO we do not use paper books, nor digital ones.

 

Where are the uniforms bought?

The official supplier of the uniforms is El Corte Inglés.

Are there dining grants? Where are they ordered?

Dining grants are managed by the City Council, parents must contact the organization in charge and request it during the call dates and they have scales for granting them or not. But everyone can ask for them, even if they go to a private school.

What extracurricular activities do you do?

We have an English Academy (BeKith) that does the activity both at noon and in the afternoon. We also offer sports and cultural activities in the afternoon: Diversport,  Hip-hop, football, basketball, skating and guitar.

Do you work on projects? In wich way?

From 1st primary to 3rd ESO we work on projects, but only during specific weeks: the last 2 weeks of each term. In Kindergarten we also work on projects, but we do it throughout the term dedicating an hour a day.  They become true protagonists of their interests and parents collaborate in research on the internet and various media to find out their concerns, to then share them with the rest of their colleagues. Finally, the students invite their parents to the class to present and share with them everything they have learned about the project.

Is there a lot of homework to be able to develop extracurricular activities?

The student always has time to do the tasks in class in the primary and ESO courses.  The small homework they bring home is only to acquire good habits of routines and work.  

In Kindergarten, they only carry out reading tasks, in the P4 and P5 courses, to encourage the habit of reading to make progress in their first learning of our little great readers.
